2025 Fruit of Spirit Series – II
As we navigate throughout 2025, the “On the Porch” Blog for Lillie’s Foundation wants to focus in on the spiritual, mental and emotional wellness of our grandparents, caretakers, seniors and supporters.
The book of Galatian’s from the Bible, Chapter 5 versus 22-23 references the fruit of the spirit as 1) Love, 2) joy, 3) peace, 4) patience, 5) kindness, 6) goodness, 7) faithfulness, 8 ) gentleness and 9) self – control.
For this edition of the series, we’re focusing on joy. What’s bringing you or giving you joy in this season?
REFLECTION: What is Joy?
Grandparents and caretakers who are raising school aged children battle with maintaining their joy too. We know it’s difficult at times for caregivers and caretakers who sacrifice a lot for the betterment of those who need them.
From early childhood trauma to tween and teen hood, it takes a lot of Love and faith to rear children especially in your senior/golden years. Many of our grandparents are well into their years of retirement and parenthood. The parenting process is not easy and the challenges are real. Often times in the midst of these challenges it can be hard to maintain joy.
Maintaining your joy begins with connecting everyday with the center of your joy. Having a strong spiritual foundation is key!
Taking moments to pray, meditate, relax, exercise, drink water, read, call Loved ones or walk around your community aren’t simply just ways to stay healthy, fit and in your right mind, but they are also all avenues of connecting you with the source and center of our joy.
In a chaotic world, hearing God’s voice helps our walk on this journey become filled with hope, happiness and joy.
