Faithfulness: 2025 Fruit of the Spirit Series

In October, we celebrated the 10th Anniversary Gala and the celebration of work. We know firsthand the sacrifices and faith that it takes for grandparents and caretakers to raise school-aged children.

We walk by faith and not by sight is a powerful affirmation and proverb passed down from generation to generation. Although we may see food scarcity we trust God to provide in the mist of trouble.

REFLECTION: Keeping the Faith in Hard Times.

Let’s be honest. Going to church, reading the Bible, being a good person doesn’t exempt you for experiencing the hardships of life.

It could be a sudden illness, accident or natural disaster that brings tragedy to your door step. However, this series has shown that it we activate the fruit of the spirt within us, we can make it.

That’s why we must continue to keep the faith in hard times.

During this month, many grandparents and caretakers are concerned about the supplemental support they receive from the government through benefits, medications, SNAP, WIC, Medicaid, Medicare and other resources.

Lillie’s Foundation is encouraging our grands to stay connected to organizations such as ours, Generations United, and the National Parents Union for updates on policy and federal changes.

In the mist of hard times when benefits for grandfamilies and kinship families are being stripped away, healthcare is uncertain, public education is under attack we know that we we’ve built in community, our beliefs, our stories, our values can’t be destroyed. We will continue to elevate, educate and enhance the future success of grands through our faith.

Additionally, as we keep the faith, we want you to take a moment to do the following:

  1. Keep monitoring the academic progress of your grandchildren.
  2. Take time to read stories.
  3. Maintain a balance of social media/media.
  4. Exercise regularly.

Let faith lead you in order to conquer the constant fears of society.

RECALL: Faithfulness Over Worry

  • Avoid news media outlets that drive fear, violence and fake news.
