It’s Back to School time!

This year, Lillie’s Foundation hosted the 12th Annual Back 2 School Block Party supporting grandparents, kinship families and the community. We are thankful for this year’s partners including the Kindezi Network and the New Georgia Project.

We shared some tips with our grands and kinships families through our kickoff Educate GRANDS program.

Here are five (5) tips that grandparents and caretakers to use this school year:

1. Get to know your school and district leadership.
2. Set clear expectations for your child(ren), school and teachers.
3. Ask about academic data.
4. Be aware of internet, AI and student data privacy.
5. Advocate for the development of the whole child.

As we begin the school year, we’re seeking retired educators, philanthropists and organizations will to support our GRANDS Reads Program . We specialize in supporting local schools with building literacy based programs that engage grandparents, aging guardians and kinship families in improving literacy data and academic outcomes for children.
