Kindness: 2025 Fruit of the Spirit Series

Summer heat also brings summertime fun! As you’re engaging with family on vacation, class or family reunions this summer, you’ll need a lot of patience and the next focus of our series. This edition focuses on the fifth fruit of the Spirit, kindness.

Kindness is a SUPERPOWER!

We know that in our society to be kind is sometimes viewed as a weakness. In the 1990’s a movie, “Pay it Forward” highlight the miraculous power of kindness and paying it forward with no strings attached.

Maybe like the modern day saying, “When they go low, we go high!” In challenging times, it seems easier and more fulfilling to go low when others are cruel to you. But don’t be cruel, be kind!

REFLECTION: Kindness is a superpower!

Being kind isn’t for the weak. In fact, it’s hard to be kind in a cruel world. So how do we allow kindness to be front and center in our lives. Simple, we activate it like the superpower it is.

Grandparents play a special role in modeling kindness. Especially those who are raising their grand and great grandchildren.

Caretakers and caregivers are unsung heroes proving everyday that Love plus patience helps us enact kindness upon those of us who at times don’t even show we deserve it.

Kindness is a unselfish act of Love that don’t require anything other than willingness. We have to be willing to be kind to our family members, Loved ones, friends, neighbors, coworkers and strangers.

On social media, we see a lot of people struggling with friendships and being a friend. Well, in order to be a friend you have to show that you are friendly, kind, generous, considerate and caring.

Often times people want to be the center of attention, the main attraction and the “one” that they don’t have time to consider others, to show care for others.

A powerful phrase, “I am a friend of God, God calls me friend!”, resonates in this reflection because who am I that God is mindful of me. Being mindful of others may be a small act but it carries huge weight.

Pay it forward by taking on this small act of God and being kind to thyself, thy neighbor and the Earth.

RECALL : Kindness Keeps the Heart Pure
