Making It Happen for Grands!

Lillie’s Foundation believes in kids being raised by grandparents and caretakers. But we have to be honest.

This back to school season was hard!

Although our budget was set last year, the impact of school closures and the drastic changes to critical programs such as SNAP, WIC, Medicare and Medicaid that so many grandparents and caretakers raising school aged children rely on shook us.

We saw grandparents and caretakers on our caseload and those referred to us struggle in ways that simply broke our hearts.

But we didn’t sit in silence, our team and board got to work to help grands make it happen! There are currently 55 grandfamilies on our caseload but 95,268 grandfamilies in Georgia and over 300,000 kids being raised by grandparents or aging guardians/caretakers.

We couldn’t have supported the grandfamilies on our caseload and reached 268 grandparents and caretakers in Georgia without the support of Honorable Syntel Brown; Griffin Spalding School Board Chair, Shelley Baker and Greenbriar Mall, The Kindezi Schools Network, Dr. Tony Burks and The Kindezi West PTA, Kenneth Reddick and Brothers Brunch Foundation, Demetrius McCray; City of Atlanta and our Lillie’s Foundation Board Members.

Lillie’s Foundation is making it happen for the grandfamilies on Lillie’s CARES caseload as well as 268 grandparents across Georgia.

The theme this year is a sneaker ball! Wear your best masks, formal attire and most creative sneakers. Let’s see who wins this year’s Best Mask and the Most Creative Sneakers contests.

We’re bringing the best entertainment the ATL offers including Hasan Green and the Rehoboth Band, DJ Raymont keeping those sneakers on the dance floor, and our host who will keep the party going, Javan Jones.
