Self Control: 2025 Fruit of the Spirit Series
The lessons of 2025 are steeply rooted in self control. We have seen first hand the lack of self control when it comes to heat arguments leading to violence ultimately resulting in the untimely death of someone who is Loved by a family member or friend.
In fact, over 30% of grandfamilies and kinship families are created because of the lack of self control displayed by adults resulting in the untimely death of separation from a parent(s) from their child(ren).
Heeding the wise counsel of our elders while making sound decisions helps us to maintain one of the most powerful parts of our series; self control.
REFLECTION: I’m in Control!
If we haven’t learned anything from history, we must remember that people will do anything to be in control. Being in control of your mind, body, and spirit is important. There are so many things in our society to distract us and destroy our peace of mind. If you don’t have a strong foundation, it’s easy for you to lose sight and lose control.
Displaying self control shows up in our ability to regulate our emotions, think critically in touch situations, maintain integrity when tempted, and protect ourselves and others in danger.
Self controls requires us to have a strong mental state, enabling us to be level headed and with clear vision.
One of the most important defenses we have is to be able to control our state of being under any circumstance. Displaying Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control is a reflection of who we are. It’s a reflection of our character.
People want to protect their image, the perception that others hold of them because this is ultimately a reflection of the best qualities of who we are. Your ability to be in control of your character truly allows for your light to shine brightly.
Be the light and be in control of who you are.
