2025 Fruit of Spirit Series

As we navigate throughout 2025, the “On the Porch” Blog for Lillie’s Foundation wants to focus in on the spiritual, mental and emotional wellness of our grandparents, caretakers, seniors and supporters.

The book of Galatian’s from the Bible, Chapter 5 versus 22-23 references the fruit of the spirit as 1) Love, 2) joy, 3) peace, 4) patience, 5) kindness, 6) goodness, 7) faithfulness, 8 ) gentleness and 9) self – control.

But what does this mean for us in 2025 collectively, individually and in a society that is advancing us in technology while simultaneously disconnecting us from a firm foundation.

REFLECTION: What is Love?

So many people have received Love in a conditional state of being that the true essence of unconditional Love often times feels mythical. It doesn’t feel obtainable or real. Within our families, communities and culture we should be able to trace the unconditional Love of our ancestors and elders to our present day.

We look for evidence of this through the vision, dreams, plans, business, lessons and sacrifices of our ancestors that shows us the impact of unconditional Love.

Love is all around us when we look in ways that it’s not compromised or conformed. Love doesn’t come with a price tag and it should be limitless.

I remember teaching my students how Love is a state of being (noun) and it’s also a verb that shows action. The best way to experience Love is to be intentional about how you not only give but receive it.

When you think about what is Love, look at what you spend your time, talent and treasure on as this reveals the desires of our heart. This will help you assess where your foundation of Love is set.

Change your mindset around what is Love in order to tap into the powerful entity it is.
