Gentleness: 2025 Fruit of the Spirit Series
Gentleness oftentimes gets a bad wrap. But it’s such a powerful tool of helping recover the brokenhearted and those battling depression.
As November is a time or reflection, gratitude, thanksgiving, sacrifice and loss, gentleness is a saving grace many people overlook. As the seasons are changing, the year is coming to an end, it’s important to remember gentleness.
Being gentle with the soul during this time is a way of survival.
Gentleness requires us to not only be mindful but intentional with how we handle the heart and soul of others.
REFLECTION: The Art of Sophistication
People now a days rarely hear the word sophistication which speaks to how things change and why storytelling is so important. There is certainly an art to being sophisticated and key characteristics that are required.
One requirement to master the art of sophistication is gentleness. You have to be subtle in how you handle people and situations.
Grandparents always seem to know how to handle each child, grandchild and even great grands. Yes, it is there wisdom and more importantly their approach.
Being able to approach each situation based on the need sounds like the process our schools should use in approaching personalized learning for all children. Why, because our elders, grandparents and caretakers have shown us that this method works.
Using a gentle approach doesn’t mean that you aren’t aggressively addressing the issue or problem. It doesn’t mean that you aren’t aware of situation or aren’t actively engaged.
Sometimes, all it takes is a gentle touch of compassion, a soft whisper of understanding, a hug, a nice gesture or most often a listening ear. Being a safe space for others includes being trustworthy and gentle in your approach.
Gentleness requires:
- Sophistication
- Self control
- Understanding
The power of gentleness is understanding that sometimes, less is more. You don’t have to be overbearing to be powerful.
